Golden Apple Award Nominees

At Rio Rancho Public Schools, we know we have an amazing group of educators who are dedicated to igniting the potential in each and every one our students. But today we are pleased to announce that two teachers from Rio Rancho Middle School have been nominated for a coveted Golden Apple Award.

Math/Pre-Algebra/AP Algebra Teacher Cynthia Rodriguez and Gifted Teacher Michelle Van Sant are both finalists for the Golden Apple Awards given out each year by the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico. Each year, the foundation selects just seven teachers to honor for their excellence in the classroom, professional commitment and desire to elevate education in our state. Each finalist must complete a comprehensive process that includes a nomination and application, full day evaluation visit and interviews with representatives from the school community. Winners of the award receive a professional development stipend, interview on KRQE-TV and the prestigious Golden Apple statue trophy.

We are so proud of both Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. Van Sant for reaching the finalists stage and wish them well as they complete the selection process. We're cheering for you both to win a Golden Apple!
